Who we are
We are a group of like minded people sharing a common goal of closer liaison with existing professional emergency services. We aim to be recognised as an efficient volunteer technical rescue resource in the Upper Hutt and greater Wellington area.
Having started with nothing we are now a fully equipped mobile emergency response team approximately 20 in number.
The team has a wide skill base to draw from and has members from suburbs other than Upper Hutt in its number.
The team is funded from private and public sources enabling it to provide services to the community.
What do we do
We provide trained rescue and first aid assistance to the Upper Hutt Community, assisting professional organisations in the event of a civil disaster as required with rescue and first aid.
The team meets once a week to train enhancing their skills in first aid, technical rope work, casualty handling, radio communications and community relations.
Most of all we have fun.
Is there a place for you
Simple answer YES. The team is always looking for more enthusiastic people who want to learn how to deal with emergency situations in the community and provide assistance to the other professional emergency agencies. Learning and applying new skills is only the half of it, having fun learning is the other and doing something you might not normally do.
Come along and see if this is for you or talk to someone about the team (they are the ones in the blue overalls).
Don't delay - check it out. No obligations
