The Fun Stuff
The expression "all work and no play" makes Johnny a dull boy is applicable here too. Upper Hutt Community Rescue Team does train and train to the exacting standards of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) and this is a good thing.
Alongside this the Upper Hutt Community Rescue Team is also participating in activities like: abseiling, rock climbing, tramping, mountaineering, four wheel drive rallies, skiing trips, team building activities - to name some of the fun things that we get up to.
The team is equipped with members who are instructor level or better in the majority of the activities undertaken so that brings a large strength to the team.
Achieving the Balance
It is important to keep the balance between the required training and the fun stuff, and the team certainly does that. After all there should be a healthy level of enjoyment from all that you do and in the knowing that when the team is called out the training will be put to practice.
